Buyer - Manufacturing | Maternity Cover

Location: Poole
Pay: -17.00 per hour PAYE
Contract: Temporary - maternity cover

TeamJobs are recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a manufacturing procurement team in Poole.

You'll play a key role in keeping production running smoothly, ensuring components arrive on time, building supplier relationships and resolving purchasing queries.

What you'll be doing:

• Raising purchase orders from daily requisitions.
• Managing outstanding supplier orders, chasing deliveries and ensuring components arrive when required.
• Building strong supplier relationships and identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
• Resolving shortages by sourcing alternative suppliers or working with engineering on suitable solutions.
• Processing returns for rejected goods and resolving delivery discrepancies.
• Working with internal teams to resolve invoice and payment queries.
• Supporting the wider procurement team with day-to-day purchasing requirements.
• Identifying ways to improve purchasing processes.

What we're looking for:

• Previous buying or purchasing experience.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• Confident communication and negotiation skills.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of purchasing principles.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work well within an established team.

Two years' procurement experience, a background in manufacturing and knowledge of SAP or Sage would be advantageous.
