About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join a major HS2 project based in Aylesbury. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of complex civil engineering works, including viaduct construction, earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, drainage and associated infrastructure.
Reporting to the Site Agent, you will be responsible for managing sections of work safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, quality and budget requirements whilst supporting the wider project team in delivering one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of viaduct, earthworks and structural packages.
- Lead site teams including Section Engineers, Site Engineers and Foremen.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments and ITPs.
- Manage subcontractors and monitor performance against project objectives.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and temporary works requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HS2 standards and all SHEQ requirements.
- Monitor progress and produce short-term programmes and progress reports.
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits.
- Support commercial teams with cost control, forecasting and change management.
- Review engineering documentation, drawings and technical specifications.
- Attend client and stakeholder meetings, providing updates on progress and key risks.
- Drive a positive safety culture across all site activities.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or Section Engineer on major civil engineering projects.
- Strong background delivering viaducts, bridges, reinforced concrete structures and earthworks.
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects such as HS2, highways, rail, water or large-scale civils schemes.
- Good knowledge of construction methodologies, temporary works and sequencing.
- Experience managing subcontractors and site delivery teams.
- Understanding of NEC contracts and commercial awareness.
- Strong planning, organisational and leadership skills.
Qualifications
- Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Management Card.
- First Aid at Work (desirable).
- Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor (desirable).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
