Works Operative / Counterbalance FLT Driver
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday

H&H Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for a Works Operative / Counterbalance FLT Driver to join our client's busy manufacturing operation in Sheffield.
This is a hands-on role working within the production area of a cardboard packaging manufacturer. You will be responsible for moving large quantities of cardboard to the production machinery, feeding materials into the machines manually, and moving finished pallets and materials between two nearby sites.
The role would suit someone who is physically fit, practical and experienced operating a Counterbalance FLT, particularly someone who is comfortable handling large or uneven loads and working across different ground conditions.
The Role
Monday - Thursday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am - 2:30pm
Total: 39 hours per week
Pay £13.50 per hour
The position is initially offered on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent after 12 weeks, subject to performance, attendance and suitability.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who isn't afraid of a physical, hands-on working environment and who can combine safe and competent FLT operation with general production duties.
You must be comfortable handling large cardboard materials, working around production machinery and operating an FLT with potentially uneven loads and ground conditions.

The Role
- Operating a Counterbalance FLT to move large cardboard sheets and materials around the site.
- Feeding cardboard into production machinery manually.
- Moving pallets and materials between two company sites.
- Driving the FLT across a public highway between the two sites.
- Loading and unloading materials safely.
- Working with large, sometimes uneven loads.
- Working on uneven ground and in varying conditions.
- Supporting the production team to ensure machinery is kept supplied with materials.
- Carrying out general works and production duties as required.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Following all site health & safety procedures.

- Valid Counterbalance FLT licence/certificate.
- Previous experience operating a Counterbalance FLT in a busy working environment.
- Experience handling large, bulky or uneven loads.
- Experience working on uneven or difficult ground would be highly beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence - essential, as the role involves moving between two sites via a public highway.
- Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role involving manual handling.
- Good awareness of workplace health & safety.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to get stuck into the role.
- Manufacturing, production, warehouse or packaging experience would be advantageous.
